Skoropadsky, Manerheim, Wrangel: cavalry statesmen

The author of this book tries to understand the contradictory figure of Hetman Pavlo Skoropadsky, comparing him not with contemporary Ukrainian politicians, but with his colleagues: Karl Gustav Mannerheim and Peter Wrangel. These cavalry generals belonged to the retinue of the last Russian emperor and knew each other well. By 1917, their careers were developing very similarly. After the collapse of the Russian Empire, they began to create new states on its ruins. Only Mannerheim was lucky enough to cope with this task.
